Gemma Hayes
Gemma Hayes is amazing. She released an amazing record called
'Night On My Side' that owned my cd player for months and months.
Her voice is a gem and I had a crush on her for awhile as well, her
first record had a song called 'Ran for Miles' that influenced
a GV song called "Between Pride and Love".
She just released another record called 'the hollow of morning' and
has a song titled 'Home' and hits me real hard, especially being
away from people that i love dearly but can't be near too. It's nice
to have a change in the distance department with Vanja being here.
Please look up this song or even just listen to the 30 second clip on
itunes, and after you do that email/call/write someone you haven't
talked to in a while or someone you really miss!
It's worth it! You're worth it! :D
Actually just click on her name above and you can hear the
whole song on her myspace. Then you'll want to buy it for sure :D
GV BACK IN THE STUDIO!
It's been awhile since we've been in the studio
and today was the kick off! My fingers are soar,
my ears are ringing, and wearing pj's is my only peace :D
Much more to come in these next 2 weeks, so keep posted!
We are recording 12 songs with 2-3 still in the toss up if
they will be on the record or not.
It's going to be a rock record folks! woot woot!
Ian Flemming
This year is the something anniversary of Ian Flemmings birthdate.
This chap is most known for his writing the 007 books featuring the
agent James Bond. To celebrate they re released the books with new
covers and I got curious about reading the books. I've seen all the
movies, some regrettably and others I enjoyed, so why not try the books.
I just finished Dr. No the first in the movie sequence and really
enjoyed it.The writing was great, vivid imagery, cliff hanger
chapters, great proper etiquette's, and great character details.
I then watched the film to compare and was shocked by the
many differences. The movie was SO cheesy compared to the
books, and I know many folks would say 'well of course,
the book is always better then the film' so chalk one up
for them. I do think that the new films being made are superior
by great means and will hopefully do Flemmings' legacy some honor.
It's really nice reading something for the thrill and entertainment.
I rarely will read something like this, mostly things around christian
maturing and living, and I guess this Bond stuff is quite the opposite
...hmmm...well yes, pure entertainment. The next book I'm starting
is 'You only live twice' where Bond goes to Japan. It has to be one of
my favorites out of the old school films!
Especially a rocket station inside a volcano?! sweet sauce!

I MISS
Bleach is a band that always grounds me back into an environment
of inspiration both musically and spiritually. Since knowing their
music i've always wanted to be able to right a good solid rock
song like them, but it's just not me and i've come to a point that
i accept that and am completely cool with it. The thing that comes
from their music is how fused their passion is to their tunes as
well as a much needed dose of humility in light of God and being
mindful of the gap that sin creates. It's not in way that keeps
you in this guilt misery but understands the best place for
weakness and brokenness is in the arms of Jesus.
I'm listening to Bleach a lot right now. The terrific thing
is that Pete Stuart who will be recording GV's next record
recorded one of their albums back in the day! As soon as I
heard one of their songs in Pete's Resume list I shrieked!
I have always wanted to record a duet with Davy (the lead
singer of Bleach and on the far left in the pic) and just a
week prior to all this recordstuff happening had written
an outro to one of our songs'In My Iniquity' thinking of
how fitting it would be forDavy to sing on it.
So then to find out Pete had recorded with them I asked
his manager Juan if there was still any contacts between
Pete and Davy, he said that there might be! I'm not putting
all my hopes into a basket here, but wow, imagine
recording a song with someone you've always
looked up to and been inspired by? Take that into any
field you completely resonate with and think of working
with the person who leads in that field, its kinda like that!
Sadly for me Bleach came to an end 2005, but I'm sure
they can be found somewhere here on the internet,
like seeqpod.com or something like that. I'm currently
listening to 'Again, for the first time' its a big
pick me up right now. I'll be moving on to Astronomy
next. Yum.

Fall Orders
Hot Apple Cider with Carmel
and Whip Cream on Top.
Treat yourself to fall, kick some leaves, carve a pumpkin,
make some soup, wear a scarf, roast some hot dogs,
have a bonfire, take plenty of pictures.
Make sure you do this with as many people as you can,
it makes it WAY better, i promise.
All That Jazz
A terrific breakfastat The Roxys (vanja works there!), a nice walk
thru Ballards Farmers Market, a stop into Bops Record Shop where
i discovered that Jazz aficionados Duke Ellington and Dave Brubeck
each had 30+ records that i had never heard of! I got TIME IN the
above record and another called 'Jazz impression of Japan' that
has amazing titles mirrored by great percussive presence of the orient.
It's delightful! The below records where a great listen but cash is a
determining factor in choice decisions as of late.
I haven't been playing piano as of late, maybe for the past couple
months, but i've beenlistening to a LOT of piano works by
Debussy and the Duke Ellington.
I think this listening is going to improve what i do in my approach
andunderstanding of the piano. I'm really excited how its going
to influencefurther pieces that GV does.

He's Gone and at Rest
He fought the good fight, ran the race, and was declared
more than a conqueror at 10:40 this morning.
He will be given a new name, a crown, and be counted worthy.
He was to us boys an adopted father and this is most crushing.
I don't know how to cope or respond and all i can think of are
the words that David wrote for his best
friend Jonathan and Saul. Please read.
"Your glory, O Israel, lies slain on your heights.
How the mighty have fallen!
"Tell it not in Gath,
proclaim it not in the streets of Ashkelon,
lest the daughters of the Philistines be glad,
lest the daughters of the uncircumcised rejoice.
"O mountains of Gilboa,
may you have neither dew nor rain,
nor fields that yield offerings of grain .
For there the shield of the mighty was defiled,
the shield of Saul—no longer rubbed with oil.
From the blood of the slain,
from the flesh of the mighty,
the bow of Jonathan did not turn back,
the sword of Saul did not return unsatisfied.
"Saul and Jonathan—
in life they were loved and gracious,
and in death they were not parted.
They were swifter than eagles,
they were stronger than lions.
"O daughters of Israel,
weep for Saul,
who clothed you in scarlet and finery,
who adorned your garments with ornaments of gold.
"How the mighty have fallen in battle!
Jonathan lies slain on your heights.
I grieve for you, Jonathan my brother;
you were very dear to me.
Your love for me was wonderful,
more wonderful than that of women.
"How the mighty have fallen!
The weapons of war have perished!"

it constructs a map and inks out my fears
my famines are exposed and my droughts made obvious
my hunger crushes,my thirst aches, and my need great
their joint effort reveals my child hood wits and the
maturity of resistance beckons me to abandonment
my spine is a needle and i sure hope it doesn't touch the red
i'm out of dependence and full of resentment
i don't have the strength to hear your wisdom
the desire to hear your recommendations on the best choices
i've given my brains to my feet and my passions
to the surface of things
my spine is an excuse away from being vacant
and not being a mirror
i want to be in the light as you are in the light
just get me some backbone
