Anchors Away My Lads

I got a phone message from my brother who is in the Navy boot camp at this very moment. In it he told me a couple of things:

1) He got a peanut shot that made him limp for 3 days (probably because he doesn't have an ounce of fat anywhere on his body that stretches for 6 feet and 4 inches)

2) He got all 4 wisdom teeth taken out and as i recall for myself, i couldn't imagine having them all out and being in boot camp at the same time!

3) He's at the top of his unit! Scoring higher than any other sailor in all the testings blah blah blah. I'm SO proud!

I also received a letter from him on Navy Stationary and saw the Panigot writing resemblance, NONE of us 5 boys can write nicely, and all our handwriting looks very similar. WEIRD. This totally made my day for 2 reasons 1) It sure was swell hearing from my kid brother as its been a month since i've heard his voice 2) It's the first letter i've received from any of my brothers before. I'll cherish it forever.

These snaps are possible glimpses into a sailors life, Hollywood backdrops/stages, choreographed dancing, and DAMES! ;D ha ha ha One of my fav. black and white films is 'The Fleets' In' in which the popular song at the time had these words "Hey there mister, you better hide your sister cus the fleets in'. A wonderful film full of humor, romance, drama, dancing. SO good.

"On The Town" is by far one of my favorite musicals! I mean, how can you go wrong Sinatra, Gene Kelley, Vera Ellen, and Ann Miller! Have you see it? I have it on VHS, you can come over & watch it sometime if you want...

...and its going to be playing at the 5th Avenue in April :)

I'm so glad to hear that Zack is doing so well :) Good for him!

That's so funny, I was telling a friend that I was in SF this weekend, and they said "oh wow, did you go up for fleet week?"

I actually had no idea what fleet week meant, but apparently it's when all the sailors come home! Hide your sisters! hahaha
