In the A.M.


Tomorrow morning starts the new tour with some of the best music authors we know The Denouement. It's a special treat that i get to munch on for like 12 days or something. YUM! I can never say enough about these kids. I want them in my life more often and you should too, this can be done in several ways, pick up 1 of their 2 albums, see them in concert while they are up here in the NW, maybe become a pen pal with one of the members if their cool sharing their address. These are some ideas to play around with.

Docs Report

I just wanna say a HUGO TANX to all my peeps near & far wherever you are, for the care & prayers shown to me thru these past couple weeks of my work injury. I went on a hunt for a band to go around my waist for the abdomen tear or hernia band. I found this and thought it was too funny not to share! It was the best laugh I had since I got hurt. You should laugh as well oh and i didn't get this one, BUT i did try it on over my pants at the pharmacy in front of people for the fun of it !!!! No shame at all :D


Today i had my ultrasound and asked the tec. if it was a boy or girl to which she laughed hard while scolding me about making her laugh since she busted her lip in the shower this morning. The Dr. said no visible break thru in the muscle was obvious, just soft tissue damage. NICE, this means no surgery! GOD IS GOOD! BAM! "I just wanna praise Him, just wanna praise him"

A week and a half ago Mdot was back in my hood with the lady! woot woot! We put together a double date in the French veins of cuisine & film. We kicked off the afternoon with the best Crepes in town down at Pikes, and then moved eastward to the Egyptian to watch Binoches' new French film "Paris". The crepe ruled,the film TOO long, the company amazin'! AHHhhhh... i need more of these times :D

Vinyl

This week is dedicated to getting ready for the tour, this includes final booking confirmations, screen printing tote bags, prayer, and practicing ;D Today we mixed in new parts to some of our older songs that brings a more gospel/spiritual vein into what we do. Twas amazin! I can't wait to record our next 3 albums and EP. YUM. WE also got our test proof of the vinyl and listened to it on my Fisher Price turntable that i've had since i was 5, if it sounds amazin on it, i'm sure its WAY better on the legit setup. It's so wild to see the record spinning and thinking 'whoa..i was apart of this?' theres something about vinyl that steps up the game for us boot strappers as well as setting a standard of sorts on our future releases. pro gear pro attitude ;D

Two nights ago i was involved in this amazing conversation about prejudice & racism. It was really intriguing to me how people described their first encounter with these things. My mind went to 3 people who made significant contributions to the abolition of slavery & equality: Frederick Douglass, Martin Luther King Jr., & Bobby Kennedy.

Today I hunted a bunch to learn more of FD and in discovering a wealth of info on him I discovered that as he aged he grew his hair/facial hair longer so I had to put the pics together to show you his time line :D Pretty sweet! ALSO i discovered this on wiki:

"When Douglass was hired out to a Mr. Freeman, he taught other slaves on the plantation how to read the New Testament at a weekly Sabbath School. As word spread, the interest among slaves in learning to read was so great that in any week more than 40 slaves would attend lessons."

Want to see this!

All in my head or tummy?

When your pain scale is registering the highest degree it puts things into perspective. I've been thinking the following in different waves and recycles in the past week:

1) I only have one body, so i need to do whatever it takes to keep it around and get feelin better no matter the cost, i'd rather be alive in debt than not ;D 2) How much longer? What's gonna make this go away? 3) Tell my peeps to pray for me and make sure they know i'm super grateful for their prayers when they tell me that i'm in their prayers 4) Man i sure hope Jesus comes soon 5) Is there a lesson for me to learn? 6) Advil/Aleve do NOT cut any of this pain, what the deuce?! In my head i feel the chemicals, but where it hurts? NOPE 7) Man am i surrounded by the best people 8) I can't sing unless i'm on my back, ugh 9) Stay busy, do a lot of reading 10) be strict on my activity, don't risk doing anything that could make this worse, its NOT worth it. 11) when is a good time to make a will? 12) HELP!

I've been thinking all of these things everyday in diff. orders & in repeat for the past week or so.

NAVY STATIONARY

It will be 70yrs since the HMS Royal Oak was sunk by a German U-boat on Oct. 14. As I was looking at amazing underwater snaps of this sunken beast I found a site that examined Naval stationary from that era and from all parts of the globe. I collected a few to show if you click on the image it will show them bigger. They are WAY cooler than the stationary my bro wrote on from boot camp!

I got a phone message from my brother who is in the Navy boot camp at this very moment. In it he told me a couple of things:

1) He got a peanut shot that made him limp for 3 days (probably because he doesn't have an ounce of fat anywhere on his body that stretches for 6 feet and 4 inches)

2) He got all 4 wisdom teeth taken out and as i recall for myself, i couldn't imagine having them all out and being in boot camp at the same time!

3) He's at the top of his unit! Scoring higher than any other sailor in all the testings blah blah blah. I'm SO proud!


I also received a letter from him on Navy Stationary and saw the Panigot writing resemblance, NONE of us 5 boys can write nicely, and all our handwriting looks very similar. WEIRD. This totally made my day for 2 reasons 1) It sure was swell hearing from my kid brother as its been a month since i've heard his voice 2) It's the first letter i've received from any of my brothers before. I'll cherish it forever.

These snaps are possible glimpses into a sailors life, Hollywood backdrops/stages, choreographed dancing, and DAMES! ;D ha ha ha One of my fav. black and white films is 'The Fleets' In' in which the popular song at the time had these words "Hey there mister, you better hide your sister cus the fleets in'. A wonderful film full of humor, romance, drama, dancing. SO good.

My Scot boys


TRAVIS has long been one of my fav. bands. Their last 2 records were not solid all the way thru but still had some good stuff in it. The Man Who is probably in my top 20 albums of all time, just love it to bits. Fran & Andy are doing a special tour thru the states playing acoustic versions of their songs and playing up to 2 hrs at each show! My beef is, why isn't this coming to Seatown?! What the deuce! Apparently they have a slide show behind their shows of snaps from their hometown Scotland that they talk about between songs, pretty sweet. I'd love to see that.

Also i think Chris Martin should release a solo record that is strictly acoustic, I think that would regain a lot of fans from the Parachutes' days, and bring some musical cred back to the brit outfit. Hearing his voice with that mahogany Martin that he plays always gets me. I think this would be a a nice career move and musically something i'd really enjoy listening to.

I like this, especially the part 'exploding like spiders across the stars', SO good! This makes me think of many of my close friends who are always engaging to me, who inspire me in their motivation & pursuits of their gifts, and who are equally generous in their time/gift/counsel.

Something i cooked up in the NO THEFT kitchen! My pal Tony Kevin Jr is having his EP release this month at Q Cafe, its on the 30th at 7:30, 8 bones. You should go if you are here in Seatown! TK stopped by the other day to share the EP in its entirety, and i must say it is the best thing i've heard this year, not exaggerating. Pick up your copy at the show, Karli produced it and did an amazing job!

Brandi Carlile



Ahem...so Miss Carlile plays a Martin at the start of this Jools Holland performance and then a third into the song she picks up a Gretsch to storm thru the rest of the song....pretty hot. Those are my 2 gee-tar choices as well. She also gives her vocals a forceful push to get the tune out thats rock n rollin. I dig i dig. Her new record is out now as of Oct 6. I think she'll be playin in Seatown soon, i'm glad she calls this place home.
