I think GV's next record cover should be just like this.

PABLO
I've been really really excited about this show since Tony told me about it awhile back. I've heard great report on these Pablo kids and am a huge fan of Kory. I wanted to make this poster have a more traditional feel with a flash of sometin modern. Kinda Farmers Almanac style meets Antti Outilla. I've had this desire to utilize the imagery of the Buffalo for months now. These warriors have faced extinction and miraculously overcame. I admire them greatly and think of them as a most impressive American symbol.

Tonight I sold some of my old clothes and some that I just don't wear anymore at Buffalo Xchange. While there I came upon this gem! woot woot! fits just right, spot clean, & one of my fav ball players of all time. Ray ray has the sweetest jump shot and I love his team mentality, I'm currently a Celtics fan cuz he's playin for 'em. Just got more Sea-Town legit!

Tawny & Hollin
Tanx Nikki (Top left snap) for your warm heart and warm homemade cinnamon rolls! WOW!
The next day Mike turned into an Eskimo from the freezing arctic front that's pounding Sea-town right now.
As i took these pictures i kept thinking that Tawny & Hollin would show up out of nowhere, these snaps made me think SO much of em!
Tis the Season
This shirt is awaitin my return to the midwest. RedHead makes some cozy flannels that are not itchy but soft! The great thing is that you can spend between 14-17 bones instead of 49.99 on URBN or Eddie Bauer. ALSO a small fits me :D
Rockwell
This image by Norman Rockwell has been in my head since I awoke this morning. Thoughts about prayer have been very persistent this week for a divine reason. Maybe for rebuke or encouragement. These thoughts and images have been haunting like a well crafted pop hook, the one you sing over and over again to the point you don't realize you're doing it. (I feel like i've written these very words before) This picture reminds me of so many things, my grandparents, my walk, this past Sabbaths' sermon, Sabbath, counting my blessings...there's so much I could write about right this minute. Instead just take a look at the picture above and take a moment with your thoughts, grab a pen, get on your knees, pick up that neglected book, listen to a great song that feeds you and uplifts you, have some you time :D

I relish in that smell, I didn't know there was a word for it :D

Them Ears
COVER
AS IS
"Prayer is not an expiation of sin; it has no virtue or merit of itself. All the flowery words at our command are not equivalent to one holy desire. The most eloquent prayers are but idle words if they do not express the true sentiments of the heart. But the prayer that comes from an earnest heart, when the simple wants of the soul are expressed, as we would ask an earthly friend for a favor, expecting it to be granted - this is the prayer of faith. God does not desire our ceremonial compliments, but the unspoken cry of the heart broken and subdued with a sense of its sin and utter weakness finds its way to the Father of all mercy."

New story to my ears
"A remarkable case of deliverance from persecution, and of punishment
coming upon the persecutors, is recorded of the Jewish colony at Alexandria
Ptolemy Philopator (B.C. 217), being incensed at the refusal of the high-priest
to admit him into the temple at Jerusalem, returned to Egypt and
cast into prison all the Jews upon whom he could lay his hands. Those of
Alexandria were confined in the Hippodrome, a vast amphitheater used for
gladiatorial shows and public games. The king ordered that they should be
trampled to death by elephants, made furious by wine and stimulating drugs.
For two days the execution was delayed by the drunken carousals of the
king. This interval was spent by the prisoners in ceaseless prayer to God
for deliverance. On the third day the savage beasts, were driven into the
arena and urged upon the prisoners. But, instead of attacking them, they
turned upon the guards and spectators, many of whom were killed, the rest
fleeing in terror. Ptolemy was so impressed by this manifestation of the
Divine power that he ordered the prisoners to be released, restored their
privileges, and, as in the days of Esther and Ahasuerus, gave them permission
to kill their enemies."

UPPER ROOM SHOW
Shake It Photo
Vanja told me over a piece of mushroom/pineapple pizza at Pagliaccis that I needed to download this new iphone app that makes your photos look like a Polaroid snap. It descends into your screen after you take a picture and then you have to shake your phone until it develops, if you don't it will be a black polaroid!

Mona Bone Jakon
While Mdot and I were shooting film around Ballard we stopped by Sonic Boom and right there in the new used section, face out, was this Cat Stevens record Mona Bone Jakon, crisp as the day it was made! 4 BONES later, I'm a very pleased man. I had never heard of this record, it's terrific. Peter Gabriel guest appears on it playing flute?! And on the song "Maybe You're Right" it has this classic old Elton John/Kinks piano part. On the song "I think I see the light" there's this Carol King "I felt the earth move" piano groove, really tasty. The sound of the guitar is like when I put my head down on the guitar to hear the texture of the pick hitting the strings. YUM! This is such a remarkable find!

LATEST
Noah asked me to do a poster for his Empyrean show coming up with 2 of my other fav artists Karli Fairbanks & Tony Kevin. DANG, that show is gonna be SICK! I'd really really really like to go to it! This morning I was fooling around with shapes and came up with a type image for Karli and decided to make a quick poster out of it too. I love doing posters and my goal is to get screen printing these designs in the very near future!

Cold War Kids have done it again. Their trailer for Loyalty To Loyalty was enough for me to buy that record when it came out. Now with this trailer I'm gonna pull a repeat. SO GOOD.

SKETCHIN
I've been drawing a lot in my Moleskine this tour and will be scanning some to share on the blog later this week. I did this today in the van on the way home. At the middle of the tour the song 'so fresh and so clean clean' was being sung here & there, and today it came back into my head. I saw this image in my head and got to work.

Adam Pasion
I can't stop listening to this record. We'll be going on tour with Adam early next year. It's kinda crazy, the 2 bands I've always wanted to tour with since I knew them has happened or will. Next on the list: Delta Spirit.
